CARMELITE MISSIONARIES CENTER OF SPIRITUALITY, TAGAYTAY

HISTORY

On 18th February 2006, permission was sought from the General Superior Sr. Esperenza Izco and Council, to open a new community at the Carmelite Missionaries Center of Spirituality, Tagaytay City, to respond to the need of the congregation and of the Philippine Church, i.e., to promote the Carmelite-Palautian Spirituality.

It is not only an income generating project, but a means to promote and share our Carmelite-Palautian Spirituality to all who are searching for a deeper meaning in life and for spiritual renewal, particularly our students and parents of our Schools, Mater Carmeli Schools, Novaliches and D. Tuazon, Quezon City, as well as for their faculty and Staff.

The community was composed of Sisters Ma. Xenia Salle, in charge of the booking, Jeanith Sulimanan, in charge of the dietary services, Salvacion Palomo, local bursar and Sr. Yolanda Iglesias, Superior.  Sisters Ma. Xenia, Jeanith and Salvacion arrived at the center on June 10, 2006 and Sr. Yolanda completed the community coming from Rome on July 9, 2006.

The center was not yet fully finished and everything was in topsy-turvy in spite of the assistance of our young sisters, postulants, novices and juniors.  As in all beginnings life then was difficult, but the zeal, dedication and commitment of the community enabled them to put everything in its proper places that made the entire place pleasing, attractive and welcoming.

On July 16, 2006. Feast of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Center was blessed.  The main celebrant was Bishop Luis Antonio Tagle, DD, Bishop of the Diocese of Imus.  Together with him were concelebrants of innumerable priests and religious of different congregations.  Our communities in Luzon, faculties and staff members of our schools, friends and benefactors praised and honored God through the intercession of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.  It was indeed, a grand opening and launching of the Center.  The Center was then a gift to the Philippine Province on its celebration of the Golden Anniversary of the congregation’s presence in the Philippines.
