A Night of ADVENTures

A Night of ADVENTures

Advent is a time of joyful waiting… waiting for the coming of Jesus. At this time, we may encounter varied experiences in our spiritual and personal journeys. Thus, this year’s Advent recollection organized by the Carmelite Missionaries Philanthropic Development Office (CM-PDO) via Zoom held last December 9, 2023, had for its theme ADVENTures attended by twenty of our mission partners from the different parts of the Philippines and one from Malta; twelve CM sisters from other communities and nine CM sisters of the CM-PDO team.

The recollection started with an opening prayer led by Sr. Vanesa Buhain, leading the participants into an ambiance of silence and reflection. Sr. Milaluna Arranchado then welcome them with gratitude and hope of a meaningful Advent journey.  Sr. Thea May Superio, the Ambassador on the advocacy for the Promotion of Spiritual and Human Life, was the speaker and she expounded on the adventures of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus and deepened them through today’s real-life stories. After her talk, the participants were asked to reflect on their realizations and “adventures.” Some of them shared that they are grateful for this opportunity to join this Advent recollection. One shared that the greatest adventures are those undertaken with faith, love, and willingness to explore the real beauty of sharing with others.

The night ended with a closing prayer by Sr. Early Grace Solis. Sr. Genevieve Gorriceta facilitated the flow of the activities with attentiveness and sobriety.
