PASSION FOR ANIMATION AND ACCOMPANIMENT

The Carmelite Missionaries Center for Life (CMCL) in Dueñas, Iloilo, hosted the Superiors’ Meeting held last August 7-10, 2023, with the theme: “Passion for Animation and Accompaniment.” Twenty-two sisters came from different communities in the Philippines, and a representative from Taiwan, Thailand, and Australia. Meeting face-to-face once again and greeting each other warmly during the first day made the sisters feel renewed and rejuvenated. This gathering, as stipulated in our Complementary Norms Article 138, gives a venue for the Provincial Superior to meet the Local Superiors at least once a year to inform, discuss, and discern important matters of the Province and promote adequate formation for the service of animation. Two speakers were invited to share about the Inter-generational Gap (Dr. Lisa Gayoles, PhD) and World Situation (Rev. Fr. Ronel Dizon). At the same time, our sisters from the Council, the Provincial Secretary, the Provincial Bursar, and the office of the Carmelite Missionaries Philanthropic Development Office (CM-PDO) and Carmelite Missionaries Handicrafts and Pastoral Center (CMHPC) gave updates and reports from their respective areas of responsibility. All these helped the sisters situate themselves better with the realities and concerns of the entire demarcation. The sisters are grateful for this fruitful encounter, especially to Sr. Gina Pios and the Council, for their availability and close accompaniment of the Servant Leaders in the service of animation. Our gratitude also to the sisters and staff at CMCL for the warm welcome and for attending to our needs. May God continue to bless and sustain the Servant Leaders with a heart like that of Jesus, who seeks to serve and not to be served.
